Lovin' that Southern Drawl!

No sooner than I arrived in Oklahoma I was given orders to report to Shreveport, Louisiana. Our company has recently acquired the assets and operations of Castle Creek Transports which operates in east Texas, southern Arkansas, and most of Louisiana. We have our work cut out for us in transitioning Castle Creek drivers and office personnel over to our system and culture. As I made the trek eastward last week from Phoenix the first wave of OTL-UPT folks descended upon Shreveport to begin this change. I was given long enough to get unpacked, see family, and organize my new office before leaving this past Monday morning. My main objective is to train the office personnel on our dispatching system and help ease the transition of paperwork and decision making. It is likely that this will be my primary duty for the next month and a half. The six hour drive each Monday and Friday will become an intimate friend. I'm hardly lonely in this task as we have inundated these folks and the local La Quinta with our corporate staff. It should be a good experience for all; lots to do, but I look forward to the challenge.

Plus, I've come to learn that Shreveport is the filming destination of choice for Kevin Costner. Both 'The Guardian' and 'Mr. Brooks' were filmed here the last few years and more is apparently on the way. I will have to keep my eyes open.
